Tony Engelhart's Review of the Band |

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies!by Tony Engelhart Since Duffy Bishop cut down on her gigs back in the early 90’s, there hasn’t been anyone worthy to take her coveted throne, until now. New kids on the northwest blues block Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! play in a high energy, boogie woogie style that dares you to keep seated. Formed in 2002 by Jim "The Triple Threat" King of Junkyard Jane, The New Blues Brothers, and The Royals, Tom "T-Boy" Boyle of Led Jaxson, The Steamers, and Drivin' Wheel, Les "Wild Child" White was with The Nightsticks and Jeff Hayes of The Nightsticks and The Blues Orbiters after Boyle saw Becki Sue singing at a karaoke bar and was blown away by her incredible pipes. Since then, the band has been nominated twice for best band by the Washington Blues Society and while they have yet to take home the award, they most certainly will be major contenders as they grow. The band issued their debut disc, The L.A.B. Results, earlier this year. No originals this time around but definitely worth a spin as Becki and company groove through 13 covers with muscle. For live blues, ain't nobody better as they shake the shack at every gig with the authority of Janis Joplin in her prime. As appeared in THE WEEKLY VOLCANO, an independent South Puget Sound entertainment guide. |
