Big Rockin' Boogie See Our Future Shows Designed Especially for Blues Fanatics. Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! 2010 Update Hailing from the South Puget Sound region of Washington state, Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies!, formed in 2003 by the band's guitarist Tom "T-Boy Neal" Boyle, has risen to elite status among not only blues bands in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, but among all bands in that region, and is approaching national and international recognition. A new cd, "Big Rockin' Boogie" released on Underworld Records on June 15, 2010, shows off the group's 'under the radar' songwriting skills as well as significant musical growth; still steeped in the blues vein, but with plenty of apparent originality as well. With awards ranging from "Best Blues Band" (Washington Blues Society in 2006 and 2007) to "Best Regional Band" (Oregon's Cascade Blues Association in 2008) to "#1 Best Band in Western Washington" (Seattle's King 5 TV in 2008 out of 300 bands, and 2nd place in 2009 out of 475 bands), Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! is one tight outfit! Add to that, numerous individual awards including "Performer of the Year" and "Vocalist of the Year" for Becki Sue, five "Electric Blues Guitarist of the Year" awards for T-Boy, three "Best Bass" awards for Les "WildChild" White, and "Best Sax" and "Best Drummer" awards for Jim King and Jeff Hayes, respectively. While maintaining a steady performing schedule of blues club gigs and blues festivals in Washington and Oregon (The Highway 99 Blues Club, The Waterfront Blues Festival, Bumbershoot, etc.) and other venues in the Northwestern states, the band also travels outside of the region. In 2006 they performed at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas and The Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi... the heart of the famed Mississippi Delta! In 2009 the band's performance at The Magic City Blues Festival in Billings, Montana, garnered rave rviews, with a featured photo of Becki Sue gracing the following morning's front page of the Billings Gazette newspaper. The band performed as part of The 2007 International Blues Challenge competition in Memphis, Tennessee at The Hard Rock Café, located on the world famous Beale Street, to a packed house of absolutely rabid blues fans, which caused one judge to comment, "Out of all the bands that I saw at the 2007 International Blues Challenge, Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! was the band that I enjoyed the most." Famed Alligator Records founder and president, Bruce Iglauer, commented that, "This is a band that sounds like I'd enjoy a lot live and could heartily recommend to any blues fan", after listening to the band's 2007 cd release, the award winning, "Big City Blues", which receives international airplay on several blues radio shows, including XM/Sirius Satellite Radio, where Becki Sue is a favorite of famed blues DJ, Bill Wax. Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! recently performed in San Felipe, Baja, Mx at The 2010 International Blues & Arts Fiesta to, again, rave reviews! you are blues fan # |
