You could whack this guy in the head with a two by four, and you wouldn't knock him off the beat. Jeff is as solid as they come, and regarded as one of the finest blues drummers anywhere. He anchors the rhythm section of Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! and keeps the groove nailed down tight. Ranging from the very low-down Delta side of the blues, up tempo swings and shuffles, as well as New Orleans style grooves, Jeff can cover it all with skill and precision. Jeff , along with his vintage Gretsch drum kit, has played at all of the major blues/roots music venues in Washington state , as well as venues in western Canada and the Mississippi Delta, most notably with delta blues guitarist, Terry "Big T" Williams. Jeff has studied with premier New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich, Steve Smith at The Seattle Drum School of Music, Dave Jette at Donn Bennett's School of Music in Bellevue, and most recently with Portland's Jimi Bott of Fabulous Thunderbirds and Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers fame. Jeff's lyrics have been described by Canadian blues writer, D.D. Rocker, as "extremely catchy and humorous". Tony Englehart describes Jeff’s drumming as "tasty” and his lyrics "witty". In 2004, Jeff had the opportunity to share drumming credits with legendary blues drummer, Sam Carr, on recordings by The U.K.’s "Son’s of the Delta” which also features the great Pinetop Perkins on piano. Jeff has recently completed a demo recording that features his fine vocal ability well as his drumming. The resulting CD is receiving airplay not only locally, but in Clarksdale, Mississippi as well.
